Anwar challenges DNA Bill

By SIM LEOI LEOI

KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-minted Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made his first appearance in the House after being sworn in as MP to participate briefly in the debate on the DNA Identification Bill.

The PKR adviser, who had left the Dewan Rakyat earlier upon being sworn in, walked in around noon bearing a briefcase while Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud (PAS - Kota Raja) held the floor with her take on the DNA Identification Bill.

After Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN - Pasir Salak) interjected to ask Dr Siti Mariah whether the Bar Council "was a credible body" in the first place to cast doubts on the Bill, Anwar stood up.

"Don't Yang Berhormat agree with me that the one with no credibility is the corruption-ridden Government?

"This is the Government which tabled a Bill last Monday, giving no opportunity to MPs, including those of friends from the other side, to study it, and presented it with malicious intention.

"This is a Bill which has seen opposition from both the Bar Council and non-governmental groups," he said, adding that the Opposition would support any Bill that would benefit the people.

"But we are against the method employed by the Government to push this Bill through without taking heed of the public's voice," he said.

The Opposition had argued that the Bill was "politically motivated" in light of the sodomy case against Anwar.

This led to MPs like Dr Hatta Ramli (PAS - Kuala Krai), Lim Kit Siang (DAP - Ipoh Timor) and Dr Lo' Lo' Ghazali (PAS - Titiwangsa) to interject as well.

At one point, a shouting match erupted between Tajuddin and Lim, watched on by an amused Anwar.

He finally left the Dewan around 12.15pm.

To placate everyone, Dr Siti Mariah said she agreed with everyone's points - even Tajuddin's, prompting a few chuckles.

Which rules to follow? Comm. and Multimedia Act 1998 or MSC Malaysia Bill of Guarantees

MSC Bill of Guarantees no. 7:

7) Ensure no Internet censorship.

Comm. and Multimedia Act 1998 - Act 588

1) A licensee shall use his best endeavour to prevent the network facilities that he owns or provides or the network service, applications service or content applications service that he provides from being used in, or in relation to, the commission of any offence under any "Law of Malaysia".

Based on a few cases, the Malaysian Government has already shutdown or censored a few websites and the most current one is "Malaysia Today" due to the breach of Malaysian Law. So, which act is more powerful? Isn't this contradict each other? So how? Do the concern minister know this?

Syed Hamid: SKMM ‘only exercising its power’

By ROYCE CHEAH

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (Suruhanjaya Komunikasi dan Multimedia Malaysia or SKMM) was “only exercising its power” when it ordered the 19 Internet service providers (ISPs) in the country to block the Malaysia Today website.

“Everyone is subject to the law, even websites and blogs,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.

“We do not intend to curtail people’s freedom or right to express themselves.

“But when they publish things that are libellous, slanderous or defamatory, it is natural for SKMM to act,” he said in Parliament lobby on Thursday.

Earlier Thursday, SKMM confirmed that it had instructed ISPs to block Malaysia Today.

When contacted, SKMM chief operating officer Mohamed Sharil Mohamed Tarmizi, who is currently overseas, confirmed the order but declined to elaborate, saying a press conference would be held to explain why action had been taken.

It was reported on Thursday that notices to the ISPs were sent out on Tuesday in accordance with Section 263 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.

Section 263 falls under the National Interest Matters part of the Act which states that an SKMM licensee would prevent their facilities from being used in, or in relation to, the commission of any offence under any law of Malaysia.

It also states that upon written request of the SKMM or any other authority, the licensee would assist to prevent the commission or attempted commission of any offence under any written law of Malaysia, including but not limited to the protection of public revenue and the preservation of national security.

Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamaruddin responded by saying that blocking access to his portal was a breach of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) charter and that he would turn it into "a big issue."

Under MSC Malaysia's 10-Point Bill of Guarantees, it is stated that that Government promised to “ensure no Internet censorship” as part of its commitment to ensuring the success of MSC status companies.

Also at Parliament, Deputy Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum said he was not aware of SKMM’s directive to the ISPs.

“SKMM may have briefed the minister on the issue but not me,” he said, adding that minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor, currently in Bali, Indonesia, would return to Malaysia either later Thursday or by Friday.

Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, when asked to comment, said, “I am aware of the issue but it is not under my jurisdiction.”

It is understood that only TMnet, the nation's largest ISP, has complied with SKMM's directive. Other ISPs contacted by The Star have declined to comment.

TMnet users can still access Malaysia Today through a mirror website however.

Touch n Go card - Must renew for RM10

PLUS highway, not enough with millions profit from toll collection, and now they are seeking RM10 for card renewal for every 10 years. Imagine, how much easy money can they get, millions man...? They have learn very well from their boss Barisan Nasional, which is, suck and suck as you can... The card, which is in electronic term called as a smart card should not taken back by PLUS after 10 years, if RM10 to be imposed for a new card. The card, should be able to be used until unusable and at that time, if they asking for RM10, this can be considered. The reason as PLUS said is all the electronic gadget has a lifespan of 10 years.. Yes, it is true for most of the time, but do they change the Touch n Go reader for every 10 years as well? How about their electronic signboard, emergency phone and etc, do they practised to renew such thing for every 10 years? One more thing, how about the old card that we return to them, are they dispose it or laminate it with a new plastic to be used as a new card? Kalau dah penyangak tu memang takleh buat ape lah... mereka dan keturunan mereka.. Let curse on them.....

New Touch ’n Go needed as 48,000 cards expiring this year

By LISA GOH

PETALING JAYA: About 48,000 Touch ’n Go cards will be expiring this year, with about 4,000 customers replacing their expired cards every month since January.

The cards, purchased in 1997 (when the service was officially launched), had reached their 10-year lifespan, said Touch ’n Go Customer Service Department head Azmi Jafar.

He said to renew the card, customers would need to purchase a new card at a cost of RM10, which would be taken from the RM15 deposit of the expired card.

Asked why customers were charged for the card renewal, when they were not initially informed of the card expiring, he replied:

“The new card will be able to last for another 10 years, which works out to RM1 a year only.

“The balance of RM5 from the deposit will be credited into the new card as a reload value,” he said, adding that the credit balance of the expired card would be transferred to the new card as well.

Azmi said the cards have a 10-year expiry period as “all electronic products are subject to wear and tear.”

“Touch ’n Go is no exception. The electronic chip in the card, which carries the functions such as

memory storage, radio transmitter and receiver, has a 10-year life-span.

“The chip will lose its efficiency once it reaches the end of its lifespan,” he told The Star.

Card users can only renew their cards at Touch ’n Go offices in Faber Towers, KL Sentral (both in Kuala Lumpur), Penang Bridge Sdn Bhd, PLUS, Elite Highway and Second Link.

“Right now, customers can check when their card expires at our website. We are negotiating with vendors to extend our service of renewing their cards online.

“That system should be out sometime next year,” he said.

He said that should customers decide not to purchase a new Touch ’n Go card, they can return the expired card, and the deposit and balance would be refunded via cheque within 30 working days.

Lie,lie and lie - I don't know which is to believe now

Abdullah Badawi did promise that Malaysia will review the oil price once a month and the new price will be announce at the end of the month and will be implemented at the first day of the month. While, the KPDN minister, Datuk Shahril Samad says, there is no price increase more than RM2.70 until end of this year and at the same time to maintain 30 sen subsidy. Isn't the statement by Shahril Samad contradict to his own statement? How to maintain subsidy of 30 sen if the global price kept increase and at the same time the ceiling price is RM2.70?...
Maybe due to Abdullah can't wait until Permatang Pauh election finish, he announce the new price before end of the month as promised, but why? He says that he must announce the new price since the inflation is sky rocketing now.. If this is the reason, why did he raised the oil price for 78 sen last time? As a finance minister, doesn't he knows that by increasing the oil price, the inflation will also increase? I think the main reason is he want to show that government stick to their promises that they will reduce the oil price.. but does he know that at the same time he broke the promise that the government will announce the new oil price at the end of the month..? The lie is everywhere, they can change everything just like that and by using all the machinery such as tv, radio and newspaper, they can cover the bad thing but to show the good thing... LIE, LIE, LIE........ can we believe them again?

No new fuel price announcements for now, says Abdullah

KUALA LUMPUR: The Government is not planning to announce the new fuel prices before polling day for the Permatang Pauh by-election.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the Government would stick to its decision to announce the new prices on Aug 31, to be enforced on Sept 1.

He was asked if the Government would announce the new prices before polling day as pre-empted by certain quarters.

Abdullah said the pump prices would hopefully be reduced, due to the falling global crude oil price.

On what would happen if the world crude oil price increased, he said the pump prices would not go up from the current RM2.70 per liter for petrol and RM2.58 per liter for diesel.

He said it was too early for him to estimate how much the prices would be reduced.

“Hopefully, the current trend will not change and crude oil price will not go up.

“If I give any figure now and the price goes up, what I say now will no longer hold and people will say I am lying,” he said after chairing the National Water Resource Council meeting in Parliament yesterday.

On Proton, Abdullah said his earlier statement that the Government would leave it to Proton management to weigh any proposal for foreign partnership was in terms of technical decisions.

He agreed that at the end of the day it was Proton shareholders who would make the final decision on foreign partnership for the national carmaker.

To a question, he said Proton was not in talks with any company for foreign partnership.

At another function, Abdullah assured Malaysians of Siamese descent that they would be represented in the Dewan Negara after their representative Senator Siw Chun Eam ends her tenure this year.

"This has always, and will continue to be, the norm," he said at a dinner organised by the Siamese Association of Malaysia.

"The Siamese have never caused any kacau (problems) and they are very responsible people who do not cause any racial tensions.

"The government appreciates this very much, and I have constantly reviewed issues brought up by them and forwarded it to the relevant ministries," he said.

Now, they only know: Why don't he believe people's complaint?

Is it only yesterday he only knows our people struggle in using public transport? Why now? Don't he read any complaint by people in newspaper or in any complaints form before, or is it he didn't believe our story? Last few months, Dato' Shahril Samad as a Minister also only realised the same thing. They just pretending that they just only know the problem.. Where is the money that they said to be used to improve public transportation as they slashed the so called fuel /petrol "subsidy" last time in 2007/2008 Budget? What a nonsense dirty tricks and act....

PM quietly takes public transport to experience commuters’ problems

KUALA LUMPUR: Setting aside protocol, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi took rides on the commuter and LRT rail services from Serdang to the city centre yesterday to get a feel of the transport problems faced by the public and came away less than satisfied.

Where’s the train? Abdullah waiting with other passengers at the Serdang Komuter station yesterday. This is a daily routine for the commuters, who complained to the Prime Minister about poor train services. — Bernama

Throughout the one-hour journey, during which he switched trains, the Prime Minister noted the congestion, especially during the peak period, and spoke to his fellow passengers to get feedback.

Speaking to Bernama after disembarking at the Masjid Jamek LRT station, he said he was not satisfied and wanted immediate improvements to be made.

He said the existing services were not systematic, there were not enough coaches and coverage was not comprehensive, leaving many areas not serviced.

“I just saw the plight of people using the trains to get to work every morning. They were jostling to get on board every time a train arrived. There appeared to be no system.

“I’m not happy with this because the people are not getting satisfaction from riding the trains. This we must fix,” he said.

“I found the trains really packed. Some had waited for three trains and yet could not board.

Outstanding problem: Abdullah (in red batik shirt) preferring to stand like other passengers who cannot find a seat during the journey from Serdang to the city centre yesterday. — Bernama

“There’s no queue. People push their way in, women with children and old people are pushed aside,” he added.

Abdullah, who was unaccompanied by officials from the two rail services, arrived at the Serdang Komuter KTM station at 8.15am but could not get on board the first train that arrived because it was packed.

He got on the next train that came 15 minutes later and headed for KL Sentral, the transport hub for the various rail services.

There he also had to wait a while to switch to the Putra LRT service to get to the Masjid Jamek station because, again, the first train to arrive was full.

On both the trains that he took, the prime minister, dressed in a red batik shirt with gold print, stood although passengers offered him their seats.

Upon arrival at the Masjid Jamek station at 9.15am, he chatted with members of the public and bought local cakes from the sellers there before leaving.

Abdullah said he would give attention to efforts to improve the quality of both rail services.

Different scenario at Permatang Pauh

The picture worth of thousand words:- (Nomination day on 16/8/08 for by election at Permatang Pauh)

UiTM 10% kuota saga

Why this issue is now like a no ending story? Some of you might know that during Tun Mahathir era, he did open 10% bumiputera quota to non-bumi for MRSM admission. Some quarters did raise their uneasiness about this, but not as hot as Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim throws some idea to open 10% quota to non-bumiputera for UiTM admission. Why there is two different reaction or double standards from Malays (UMNO)?
The reason is simple:
One proposal is made by their own BN leader, whilst the other one is made by opposition which is from PR.

Tan Sri Khalid don't even have any power to change the UiTM policy, but the reaction by the UiTM Vice Chancellor is so aggressive like Tan Sri Khalid able to change this. While Tun Mahathir have a power to change any related policy, but sadly, no one from UMNO come forward to have a big demonstration as the UiTM student did to oppose the plan. One thing that maybe most of you don't know that UiTM is already silently accepting foreigners to study at their university. Are this a bumiputera? Common Malaysian, Let's think....What a shame to those people...

Datuk Musa Aman: Money should not be an issue

Yesterday, Datuk Musa Aman told that money should not be an issue, because they've already allocate RM50 Million for the deportation of Illegal Immigrants. He talk such a way that the money is from his own pocket, which we are the tax payer have to pay for their mistake in allowing them to enter Malaysia at the first place. Why this such thing happened? Maybe You might think that what I think, they use this Illegal Immigrant as a ticket to win in the General Election by using them as a "Phantom or Ghost Voter" because some of them might have a Malaysian Identity Card.... What do you think?

Deportation delayed by ferry fare dispute

KOTA KINABALU: A dispute over ferry fares has delayed the deportation of hundreds of Filipino illegal immigrants being held at the temporary detention centre in Sandakan.

Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman said he had directed State Secretary Datuk Sukarti Wakiman to resolve the situation, said to have arisen from differences over ferry fares from Sandakan to the southern Philippines city of Zamboanga.

Quoting unnamed officials, a local newspaper here reported a dispute between a company contracted to arrange the transportation of the illegal immigrants and the shipping agent representing the Zamboanga-based ferry service company.

The company wanted to pay RM120 for each illegal immigrant, while the shipping agent quoted RM155.

The normal one-way fare for the twice-a-week ferry service between Sandakan and Zamboanga City is RM280.

It is understood that some 500 Filipino illegal immigrants had been provided travel documents to return to their home country but only a single batch of 138 were deported on Tuesday in the first two weeks of the month.

Yesterday, Musa said money should not be an issue as the Government had allocated RM50mil for the statewide Ops Bersepadu crackdown against illegal immigrants.

“The money is there.

“We have to see what the problem is and get it resolved,” he said after witnessing the signing of the establishment of the Malua Wildlife Habitat Conservation Bank here yesterday.

End of story: Pusrawi sacks missing doctor

Maybe because of pressure from the top gun, Pusrawi today sacks Dr Osman by giving reason that he's not reporting for work without any sorry feeling that he is hiding for his life... What a pity..

Pusrawi sacks missing doctor

PETALING JAYA: Hospital Pusrawi has terminated the services of medical officer Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid, the first doctor to have examined Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan on June 26.

Pusrawi general manager, Wan Mahmood Wan Yaacob was asked to comment on the action on the said medical officer when he failed to turn up for work since Aug 1.

"According to labour laws, an officer's services is automatically terminated without notice when he is bound by contract and fails to turn up for work for five consecutive days," he told MStar Online on Thursday.

He added that the salary of the medical officer would not be paid because he failed to keep in touch with Pusrawi after he ended his leave on Aug 1.

It is learnt that he was supposed to return for work on Aug 1 after taking leave for three weeks.

He has since disappeared and efforts by the hospital to trace him have not been fruitful.

"We tried to locate him but failed, " Wan Mahmood said.

In his statutory declaration dated Aug 1, Dr Mohamed Osman @ Than Aung, reiterated that he stood by 'his findings'.

Last Friday, the police confirmed that they have started an investigation to verify on the validity of declaration.

Umno exceeded election spending limit: Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN: The sum of RM218mil that a High Court has ordered Umno to pay for 2004 general election campaign materials exceeds the 2004 general election spending limit, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

He said in a press statement here Tuesday the Kuala Lumpur High Court judgment meant that the party had exceeded the spending limit of RM94.3mil at the maximum of RM200,000 per parliamentary constituency and RM100,000 per state constituency.

It was reported Tuesday that a High Court deputy registrar had ordered Umno to pay the sum to supplier Elegant Advisory Sdn Bhd for printed materials, transportation and mineral water used by the party in the 2004 general election.

Lim said that under Section 19 of the Election Offences Act 1954, a candidate could not spend more than RM200,000 and RM100,000 respectively for a parliamentary and state constituency.

"Umno had claimed that the campaign materials were for Barisan Nasional and had nothing to do with Umno. With 219 parliamentary seats and 505 state seats contested in the 2004 general elections, this means that a party like Barisan that contested all seats cannot spend more than RM94.3mil or else Barisan's victories are illegal.

"With RM218mil spent whether by Barisan or Umno on campaign materials alone, this is more than double the legally permitted amount," said Lim.

He said that spending above the limits imposed by the Elections Offences Act 1954 was an illegal practice under Section 27, and subject to a fine of RM5,000 by the Sessions Court, disqualification as a wakil rakyat and removal of rights as a voter.

"However, such laws are marked more by its breach than its compliance," he added.

Lim said this might now be an academic question since the 2004 general election had been superseded by the 2008 general election.

"The Election Commission’s failure to act and question the legality of the 2004 general election victories by the Barisan government not only makes a mockery of the very election laws it has drafted but also the spirit of democracy that votes should not be bought and sold," he said.

Pulau Pisang: Thunder Statement, but nothing

The statement sound like thunderstorm, but in actual..."Pooodahhh..." In so many cases, Singapore don't care about Malaysia. The resident also claiming that Singapore has already expanding the lighthouse area at Pulau Pisang, but until now, there is still no action from Federal Government or even by Johor State Government itself. Are we want to repeat the South Ledge (Pulau Batu Putih) history?

Sunday August 10, 2008 - The Star

Johor MB: Singapore has no right!

JOHOR BARU: Singapore has no right to expand the area around the lighthouse on Pulau Pisang as an agreement signed more than 100 years ago had clearly stated how much space was allocated for the building.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said the agreement stated that only 0.809ha of land was to be used for the lighthouse, 0.404ha for the road leading to the lighthouse and 17 poles for the jetty.

He said the agreement was signed between the late Sultan Ibrahim Abu Bakar and Straits Settlements Governor on Oct 6, 1900.

Abdul Ghani said there were clauses in the agreement which stated that Malaysia shall take over operations of the lighthouse from Singapore if the latter stopped or failed to manage or maintain it.

“Action can be taken against Singapore if allegations that the republic is expanding the demarcation area around the lighthouse were true,” Abdul Ghani told reporters at the launch of the Johor small and medium-sized enterprises exhibition at Plaza Angsana yesterday.

Two weeks ago, a local private TV station interviewed one of the orchard owners on the island and he claimed that the Singapore Port Authority which manages the lighthouse had expanded its land area around the structure.

On Friday, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the Johor Government must draw up a plan to develop Pulau Pisang to ensure Johor did not lose the island in the same manner as Batu Puteh.

The minister said Pulau Pisang should not be left idle by Johor and the state must be proactive in developing the island for the sake of future generations.

“The rightful ownership of Pulau Pisang and its clusters namely Pulau Kemudi, Pulau Sauh and Pulau Kunda should not arise as they clearly belong to Johor,” Abdul Ghani said.

He said locals were given the permission to open up orchards by the state government under the Surat Akuan Dusun 1897.

Presently, there are 87 rightful owners of the orchard land, 15 houses belonged to local Malays including seven which are inhabited and four transit houses.

Pulau Pisang and the other three islands with a total acreage of 145.68ha were gazetted as part of Mukim Pontian on Jan 1, 1985 and under the administration of Pontian District Council on May 9, 2008.

Abdul Ghani said the state government had received several proposals to develop Pulau Pisang but had yet to decide on it.

Doctor who examined Saiful stands by his report - The Star 7/8/08

KUALA LUMPUR: The Myanmar doctor, who had examined Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, is standing by his medical report that the former aide to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was not sodomised.

In a statutory declaration dated Aug 1, Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid @ Than Aung, reiterated that he stood by 'his findings'.

"For the record I would like to confirm that I strongly stand firm on my findings," he said in his statutory declaration.

He also claimed that additional words and even paragraphs were added to his statement to the police.

Saiful was examined by Dr Mohamed Osman at Hospital Pusrawi before he lodged a police report alleging he had been sodomised by Anwar.

The Myanmar national was put into the centre of the sodomy allegation controversy, when the report was leaked and posted on blogs on July 29.

The hospital has since stated that Dr Mohamed Osman had not carried out a sodomy related examination on Saiful.

"For record, however, I would like to confirm that I strongly stand firm on my findings," said Dr Mohamed Osman in the Aug 1 statutory declaration.

He also claimed that additional words and even paragraphs were added to his statement to the police on the matter.

First flaw in accusation detected

Battle to unveil the truth, what a sad story in our history

Anwar’s legal team to tackle charge head-on

PETALING JAYA: The group of lawyers defending PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim say they are ready to tackle the sodomy charge head-on, including the political conspiracy theory.

They also expressed their disappointment that neither they nor Anwar had seen the copy of the police report lodged by his accuser Mohd Saifuil Bukhari Azlan or the medical report.

Sulaiman Abdullah

“The legal team has not been given anything by the police or the prosecution. Nothing. But we will fight hard with the few resources as we are going against the might of the state, “ said lead counsel Sulaiman Abdullah.

Sulaiman said that the political underpinnings of the criminal case were “undeniable.”

“The sequence is clear. Datuk Seri announced he is running for the Permatang Pauh by-election. The Election Commission fixes nomination day (on Wednesday) and almost immediately he (Anwar) is summoned to appear in court.

“The nexus between the one and the other is unmistakable. Datuk Seri is facing the dual burden of the allegations and the fight to save the nation.

“He has not flinched and will face this trial fortified with prayers from his family and friends,” he said yesterday at a press conference called by Anwar.

Anwar will be represented by three other main lawyers besides Sulaiman, namely PKR vice-president and Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah, Sankara Nair and Saiful Izham Ramli.

Four or five more lawyers would be on stand-by as back-up.

Sankara Nair said that Anwar would likely be charged under Section 377B of the Penal Code for voluntarily committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature.

“This is a non-bailable offence but normally bail is granted by the court for sodomy and rape offences, except for Anwar. They don't like to give,” he quipped.

Sankara Nair also said there was no previous indication that Anwar would be charged today until he received the phone call at 8.47am yesterday from the police.

“I was told to bring my client to court at 10am to be charged. I then received a fax at 10am and then Brickfields CID Chief Deputy Supt Jude Pereira personally handed over the notice to Anwar at 12.20pm. We are ready to battle it out,” he said.

A black episode started, again

If it is true that Saiful was claiming that he was sodomised for 8 times, why don't he place a hidden camera by the time the 8th. episode occurs. The recording, if he able to produce, there's no doubt by 100% in this case, but this not happened. People will mostly believe Anwar, so am I and of course only UMNO people will believe on this liar.

Permatang Pauh 2008 - Do or die battle

Permatang Pauh by-election on Aug 26

PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission has set Aug 16 for nomination and Aug 26 for polls for the Permatang Pauh by-election.

The seat became vacant July 31 after PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail resigned from her Permatang Pauh MP’s post to make way for her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to contest in the by-election.

Dr Wan Azizah had been MP of the constituency since 1999.

The return to the Permatang Pauh constituency is said to be like a homecoming for Anwar who first won the seat as a Barisan Nasional candidate in 1982.

The Barisan Nasional has still not named its candidate to contest the seat.

Bandar Puteri Klang Interchange

Located beside the KESAS highway, after for a long time waiting for an interchange, finally, the interchange had been opened to public in June 2008 with a slight problem, minor sinking. The road is starting to sink day by day but not as bad as the first opening at the end of 2007. The most prestige developer of Bandar Puteri Klang, IOI is facing this kind of problem which is so ashamed to them. The IOI had promised the interchange to get ready by 2004, but the waiting is over in 2008. The house quality is also not up to the standard, in which, there are so many problems facing by the residents, minor sinking and bad drainage and sewage system. What a shame to IOI and their main contractor, Malayapine Estates Sdn. Bhd.

MRR2, again and again

The trouble with MRR2 resurface again, this time three of 18 panels of carbon fibre reinforced plastic fell from Pillar 28 of the highway on Sunday morning, but the Works Ministry said the MRR2 is structurally safe despite a scare that saw a temporary closure of a ramp. Last time, the government did spent a huge amount of people's money amounting RM70 million to rectify the problems. So, this time, how much more money will they spent on this? So many leakage from the government's coffer and the rakyat have to pay for this. Will you trust this Government in future?
